Exciting News | Guanzhi OS-8950 Wins the 2026 Jung Technology Innovation Award for Coatings Industry, Breaking Over 30 Years of Overseas Technology Monopoly!

On May 19, the "2026 Coatings Industry - Jungue Technology Innovation Award" ceremony was grandly held in Shanghai. Guanzhi's independently developed high-solid, aqueous oxazoline polymer OS-8950, with its hardcore original technology, outstanding product performance, and industry-leading value, stood out among 102 innovative products/technologies from 71 participating companies, winning the 2026 Coatings Industry & Jungue Technology Innovation Award!

Industry dilemma: High-end water-based materials have long been choked off by overseas markets

Waterborne oxazolin polymers are indispensable core crosslinking agents and adhesion promoters in the fields of waterborne coatings, inks, and environmentally friendly adhesives. With advantages such as medium- and low-temperature crosslinking, non-reactive by-products, long-lasting single-component storage, and low toxicity and environmental friendliness, they align with the global trend of water-based and low-carbon coating development.

However, this category has extremely high technical barriers, monopolized exclusively by American and Japanese multinational companies for over thirty years, and only Japanese companies have achieved industrialization worldwide.

We've heard too many downstream customers complain: high prices, unstable delivery times, but no alternatives—only one company in the world can do it. To solve the bottleneck, Guanzhi decided to tackle it himself.

Hardcore Breakthrough: OS-8950 is a domestic pioneer achieving technological overtaking

The birth of the OS-8950 was not a sudden flash of inspiration, but a repeated direct challenge to the "impossible."

Turn two steps into one

In traditional processes, the open-ring reaction and polymerization reaction are carried out in stages, resulting in long cycles, many side reactions, and limited product stability. We pioneered the "in-situ open-loop-copolymer integrated process"—allowing loop opening and polymerization to proceed simultaneously. The production cycle has been shortened by more than 30%, and product stability has also reached a new level.
Unraveling the deadlock of "cost versus performance."

This is the hardest hurdle. When traditional hydrophilic groups are introduced, there is a natural contradiction between "water dilution" and "water resistance"—hydrophilic means not water-resistant, and water-resistant means no hydrophilic, with cost and performance constantly competing. We have innovatively designed hydrophilic functional monomers containing polyether groups, precisely adjusting structural parameters, and finally solving this industry pain point.

Making adaptability no longer a weakness

One of the biggest complaints about traditional products is "picky formulas"—switching to a different resin system reduces effectiveness. We have built a precise proportional system, clarifying the optimal proportion range for each cell to achieve a bidirectional balance between cross-linking performance and application adaptability.

Compared to imported competitors, the OS-8950 has higher solid content and lower viscosity. For downstream customers, this means less addition, the same crosslinking effect, and lower raw material costs. After comparative testing, the OS-8950 matches or slightly surpasses imported competitors in key indicators such as water resistance, adhesion, and stability, making it fully capable of replacing imported products.

Ton-level mass production

OS-8950 can be widely used in water-based coatings, inks, and adhesive systems, compatible with acrylic emulsions, polyurethane dispersions, and other carboxylate-containing resins, covering PVC substrates, OPP/PET films, plastics, textiles, metals, and various other substrates.

The products have achieved ton-level mass production and have entered core customer supply chains in fields such as textiles and inkjet digital printing, with stable monthly supply. With better performance, lower costs, and independently controllable supply chains, it provides a brand-new localized solution for industry cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Guanzhi became the world's second company and the first domestic company to achieve mass production of water-based oxazolin, completely breaking a thirty-year monopoly. Domestic ton-level mass production means the supply chain is fully independent and controllable, with prices significantly lower than imported products. Downstream companies no longer have to worry about supply cutouts or price hikes.

The products are low-toxicity, harmless, and environmentally friendly, fully aligning with the national dual carbon strategy and the environmental protection upgrade requirements of the coatings industry, helping downstream coating, ink, and adhesive companies eliminate highly polluting traditional raw materials and transition toward water-based, high-performance, and sustainable solutions.

Staying true to the original intention of self-research and empowering industrial upgrading

Winning the Ringe Technology Innovation Award this time is an industry affirmation of Guanzhi's path of innovative R&D in new materials, and also marks a new starting point for the company to shoulder the mission of breaking through in domestic new materials.

Looking ahead, Guanzhi will continue to focus on the water-based materials sector, adhere to independent research and technological innovation, and with more high-performance, domestically produced, and environmentally friendly products, continuously break overseas technology monopolies. With "Made in China," we will provide the industry with better, more stable, and cost-effective solutions, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of China's coatings and fine chemicals industry!
